.The public as a whole are not daft, they know you can get the odd rogue builder, plumber, accountant and psychic (or psudo psychic as the case may be) etc. You get these rogues in every profession. This does not mean, that the whole profession is bad, invalid or full of crooks. Many more poeple than ever before have in fact recongnised they have experinced first hand a psychic or paranormal event in their own lives that they cannot easiliy dismiss. Many have consulted a good psychic themselves and have felt the real benifit of a reading with a good psychic and cannot try as they might ignore the fact that the psychic has an ability of some kind that is paranormal in nature. As for James Randi’s million dollar challenge, I can never see many genuine psychics queing up under his conditions and applying to be tested in this way. However, many psychics can/do and will help certain bodies in serious and impartial tests to great effect. More such tests would be welcome by many psychics.

It is however a double edged sword. I have personally put myself up for various test, have given prediction before and about an event live on tv which have proven to be 100% correct, I have used my ability to help find lost objects, people and even pets with great succes in the past, have been wired up in labs and tested, have given readings via psycometry live on tv with no prior knowlege of whom the objects owners maybe and have picked up many specific details, including the actual name of the owners object. (psychometry is where you hold an object and say what details of the owner you pick up) etc.

Yet I am sure there are still people who will say that is not evidence enough. It really does depend on a person or bodies criteria for ‘proof’ and evidence. I have been tested with psi cards, where you predict what the next card is to be turned over. Im no good at it at all it seems. I scored well below the averge expected, I was however asked live on TV. to predicts the outcome of several upcoming events that I had no prior knowlege off and scored 100% accuracy as a months later once they had taken place I was proven correct. So if your criteria was accurate psi cards predictions, im would be considered as psychic as a brick, but if your test criteria was accurate facts glenaed about an objects owner, I would score highly.

s well as serious open minded research, you also have people such as James Randi the intrepid Australian who sets out to discredit all psychics and has reached celebrity status himself in the process, I personally find his work intresting and enjoy his website also (we all have our guilty pleasures), although many psychics cringe at the mere mention of his name, I am not allways in agreement with his methods, the premise he starts with, or the way he goes about things or states/collects/angles his evidence… we need a balance in all things and he does perform a usefull service in his way, he does name and shame bad publicity self serving psychics who cheat, at times.

He does go too far off the mark in my humble opinion in trying do discredit and prove his premise right. He states he firmly believes all psychic ability is nonsense, which of course I do not agree with being a psychic myself, but the world needs balance and his points are valid in some cases where cheating and elaborate hoaxses are concerned. He does seem to forget about the exsistance of many non hollywood psychics who do a great job in helping individuals and even the police in difficult cases, and seems to tar all psychics with the same Hollywood feather, which is a pity, but like us all, he is entitled to his opinion. For every James Randi out there, I can show you 20 serious scientists who do not hold the same opinion after researching the subject under laboritory conditions. Many have found the whole area of psychic ability worth a lot more serious research.

For example,”The American Society for Psychical Research”, organized in 1885 with astronomer Simon Newcomb as president, later became a branch of the British Society for Psychical Research, founded in 1882, and functioned in Boston under the guidance of Richard Hodgson, formerly of Cambridge University, until his death in 1905. A newly-organized and independent ASPR was soon thereafter established in New York with James H. Hyslop, formerly Professor of Logic and Ethics at Columbia Unversity, as its secretary and treasurer. During the years between 1906 and his death in 1920, Professor Hyslop greatly expanded the scope of the Society’s work. Publication of the Journal was initiated in 1907 and has continued uninterruptedly to the present.

The close relationship between psychic phenomena and important scientific and philosophical issues is evidenced by the fact that the investigation of such phenomena has enlisted the interest and active participation of a number of outstanding scientists and philosophers. Among the distinguished contributors of the past may be mentioned the physicists Sir William Barrett and Sir Oliver Lodge; the psychologists William James and Gardner Murphy, both of whom played major roles in the development of the ASPR. The contemporary scene in psychical research includes philosophers, psychologists and physicists, many of them on the faculty of distinguished universities and colleges in the USA and abroad. Clearly a lot of inteligent and rational people do not think all psychic ability to be rubbish!

Many hoxses and hoaxers have been publically, ‘caught out and called out’ over the years, so why does the exsistance of and believe in psychic ability blossom and grow year by year despite this?

hat is psychic ability and can it be explained, proven or measured?
Psychic ability has been given many explanations in various cultures at at differnt times in history, ESP (extra sensory perception), prophecy, the sixth sense and psi (a Greek letter which equates to the mind and the unknown) ability. However many psychics are very much aware of their ability- even if they are unsure of how to harness it in a usefull way. Truely most human beings are in possestion of a sixth sense, it maybe underdeveloped, dormant or simply not trusted by them, but I believe it is there.

Parapsychologist study and test the ability where possible (Parapsychology is a recognized field of science) Parapsychologists are scientists that study the paranormal, which includes psychic ability among other areas of hard to define abilities or events. There are very few valid or accepted parapsychologists around today, but some are decent scientist prepaired to leave beliefs and prejudice on one side and study the facts and data. Their research concludes that people with psychic ability do exist, however, to date no concrete scientific measurement of this ability is universally agreed upon, although standardised testing for psychic ability does exsit. I have agreed and taken part in one or two such studies myself. In the past the scientific community has focused on the physical level of psychic ability, eg. Telekinesis (ability to move objects using only ones mental will) the shift of science is going beyond the physical level to encompass Einstein’s”Unified Field theory”, which is the search for the essence of consciousness. Consciousness includes the collective unconscious as is based off of another theory of Jung called Unus Mundus, (Unus Mundus in greek mythology, according to the works of Homer, was a mythical, etheral place where heaven touches earth, the mystical, Unus Mundus is the land beyond all time and space) literally meaning: One World, Complete wholeness, Where spirit and earth matter-meet.

Freud did not distinguish between an “individual psychology” and a “collective psychology”, Jung distinguished the collective unconscious from the personal unconscious particular to each human soul. The collective unconscious is also known as “a reservoir of the experiences of our species. Some people believe that a psychic is simply displaying the ability to tap in to this “resovoir of experience” and predict probable and likely outcomes from that pool of unconscious shared knowledge and bring the information into the reality of the conscious. If a psychic is able to pick up on something as specific and way into the future as the birth of a baby two years from now,(and correctly predict this) with the d.o.b and sex thrown in for example, to my mind, that kind of shakes the theory unless we all know everything, and the future is completly mapped out for us, leaving us little choice or free will. As a practicing psychic, I cannot agree that this theory is correct. As a person for example can activley and conciously choose if they wish (in most cases if they desire) to prevent it ever happening by excerting free will. However if they choose not to prevent it, it will occur at the exact time and date that the psychic had predicted. I have seen this happen even if the querent has no knowledge of the psychic’s actually prediction. This can be a blessing and a curse for the psychic and parapsycologist trying to evaluate the psychic, but a blessing from the psychics and querents point of view if they are able to help someone to avoid an event they don’t wish to allow to happen. So proof positive in testing psychics is often a tricky business for the reasercher.

If a psychic is honest with you, they will tell you there is plenty of scope for free will in our futures, and we can only guarantee that certain events will occur 100% in a querents reading/life. If I had to place a figure on it, roughly 20-30% of what an accurate psychic can pick up on for you is set in stone, and appears to be your fate, for better or worse- however…that leaves 70-80% of your path ahead completly up to you and your own free will to define. An accurate psychic will let you know of the imovable events in your future path that you cannot avoid, but will also give you information to enable you to steer your life, your path, your fate…in the direction that you would prefer it to lean toward. This is the only true gift a psychic can give you, certainty of selective events, assistants in moving your life in the direction you would wish it to go, and a sprinkling of evidence through out your reading as an offer of proof positive of their psychic ability.

ince no one knows what orbs truly are, psychics have taken an educated psychic reasoned stance on them. The telling thing about them is they just seem to be found mainly in areas where there is or has been ghost activity and or reports of paranormal phenomena. I have spoken to many pro photographers who assure me that orbs are not water spots, reflections or dirt on the lens of a camera. They further assure me that digital cameras can’t have film-processing errors. Some people I’m aware feel that the orbs on a digital camera are an error in the digital processing of the image. When that error does occur in digital photos, the objects tend to be square in nature, not round and they cannot be semi-transparent, the pixel behind would have to be corrupted also. Some people say “What about dust and dirt being stirred up?” Can that be the sole and mysterious cause orbs caught on film? If that were the case, how would these orbs be seen to bounce around, move in all different directions and seen to move in all sorts of purposeful patterns, dissapear and re-appear, follow people, been physically felt by people and have been recorded on infa red film, disputing the argument they are merly tricks of the light mixed with dust? I firmly believe orbs to be a build of of risidual psychic energy. In areas that are thought to be haunted, where a powerful event may have taken place, so powerful and charged it left an inprint on the area itself of energy pertaining to the event, or less commonly (as it is extremly rare) the energy of a lost soul who feels bound to the area or building failing to move on.
Crazy? Makes more sense to me than some freak unproven and unlikly camera error that experts in photography grudgeingly admit is so unlikely to be possible in the first place. It would be nice if someone on a serious note looked in to what they actually are than dismissing them as fantasy and film error.
